Senior Java Engineer

Waverley Ukraine is looking for an amazing Senior Java Engineer to join our team.

About our client:
Our client is a software and services company providing interactive solutions defining the broadband home management market. Their software platform, an award-winning solution that has made the Connected Home a reality, enables home security companies, broadband service providers and utilities to offer the next generation of home management, security, and connectivity to their customers. – 6+ years of commercial experience in Java development
– Good knowledge of Java Enterprise stack
– Knowledge of Spring Framework, REST, Git
– Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Stash, HipChat), Jenkins and MacOS is welcomed
– English (written and verbal) communication skills sufficient for day to day technical communications
– Ability to demonstrate the problem-solving skills

Will be a plus:
– Experience with Java 8, Spring Boot, RabbitMQ, Amazon Web Services and Linux command line tools is highly desirable

– Integration with a common code base. Unit tests, code comments, javadocs, code reviews, task tracking. Start with requirements and make things work
– Teamwork. Daily calls, sprint planning, end of sprint demo, etc
– Design and implementation of new features. Propose ideas, do an investigation, create documentation, get approval, create tasks with formalized requirements and acceptance criteria
– Build a microservice solution in Amazon Cloud (Java Spring Boot application + EC2 auto scaling group + S3 storage)

Technologies and tools stack:
– Java 7/8, Spring Framework (including Spring Boot), Maven/Gradle, JUnit/TestNG, Git (Bitbucket Stash), IntelliJ IDEA
– Amazon cloud services: EC2, S3, IAM
– RHEL server clusters, Tomcat, Apache server for load balancing, RabbitMQ, Ehcache
– Oracle DB + Hibernate
– Internal libraries for REST, JPA, AMQP, etc
– Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Stash, Artifactory, ELK, Graphite, JMeter

Project features:
– The project area is home automation, lifestyle and security. Be ready to interact with a lot of hardware (security panels, cameras, smart door locks, sensors, thermostats, etc.)
– This project consists of multiple submodules. Some of them are old legacy code (Java 7, JSP with scriplets, own REST/JPA solutions)
– Most of the development work will be related to a new module (microservice solution in Amazon cloud with Java 8, Spring Boot, no DB)
– Most of the internal resources are accessible through VPN connection (FortiClient VPN, Cisco AnyConnect)
– Almost all interactions with Dev or QA environments are doing in the shell through an SSH connection
– There are multiple teams working on this project (Server Dev Team, Embedded Dev Team, Frontend+Mobile Dev Team, QA, DevOps, Build&Release, etc.). So, full stack development skills are welcomed but not required
– Our team (Server Dev Team) is geographically distributed over several countries. Current team size is 10 people
