About the Client

Waverley Software is seeking a self-motivated Software Development Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience solving complex business problems as well as developing high performance, large scale, data driven applications. Our client’s product is a visual experience creation platform, this position will be front-end focused with the ability to manage backend engineers as well.

The role is for someone who makes great technical decisions at a rapid pace.

What you will do:

Manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews
Provide technical leadership and mentoring in an innovative and fast-paced environment
Partner with the CTO and Senior team members in Boston for planning, execution, and success of technical milestones
Drive Architectural decisions using solid software fundamentals
Partner closely with the Product team to ensure we are building the best product
Build the efficient and performing team and the mature development process using Agile and Engineering best practices to achieve best and continuously improving results
Provide clear status reporting and manage expectations
Ensure process and communication transparency and focus on result

What makes you a great fit:

10+ years of experience in software development
Strong background in software engineering
2+ years of experience with front-end software development using React.js
At least 2 years of experience with back-end software development using a modern OO language (Java preferred) and MVC Framework
Proven experience growing and mentoring Engineering Teams
3+ years of people management experience
Hands-on Architecture and technical leadership
At least 2 years of using Typescript or other strictly typed JS variant
Experience with modern web technology and web based RESTFul APIs
B.S., M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred
Experience with modern version control and workflow tools such as git and the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Stash etc.)
Experience with Agile project management methodology and in particular with SCRUM
People management including conflict management and overall team building skills
Project Status Reporting and Risk Management knowledge is a must
Experience decomposing the problem, estimating and providing the roadmap with further managing the expectations on deliveries
Understanding of the quality gates of the project and their impact on SDLC

What puts you ahead of the pack:

Experience with Web Page Speed Optimization, ADA Best practices and SEO Optimization
Experience with Content Management and eCommerce platforms – for example: Magento, Shopify, Salesforce/Demandware, BigCommerce, etc
