Principal QA Architect

We are building a new test automation practice from the ground up for an enterprise client. This is a greenfield initiative: you will design a Playwright-based automation framework intended for broad use across the client's entire QA organization. Read the full position now.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the greenfield automation framework end-to-end: architecture, foundational technical decisions, and long-term direction.
• Design for scalability and stack-agnosticism across Salesforce, web, and other surfaces.
• Embed AI-assisted test authoring into the framework so manual/less-technical QA staff can contribute automated tests.
• Drive adoption of the framework across the wider QA organization.
• Define and report on QA engineering metrics: coverage, defect escape rate, and related quality indicators.

Required Qualifications

• A software engineering background first, with a subsequent move into QA automation.
• 7+ years of relevant experience designing test automation frameworks.
• Proven experience architecting a test automation framework from scratch with Playwright.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows (test generation, code review, or similar).
• Comfort designing for and testing multiple stacks, including Salesforce.
• Ability to define and report meaningful QA metrics (e.g., coverage, defect escape rate) to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong spoken and written English, you'll work directly with a US-based engineering manager and multiple stakeholders.
• A proactive, ownership-driven style: you flag blockers early, ask for what you need, and drive architectural direction rather than waiting to be assigned tasks.
