Role Summary
The Frontend Developer – Accessibility Focused for inclusive design and development practices within our engineering team. This role will drive the implementation of WCAG-compliant, RTL-ready, and internationalized user interfaces across our common frontend components library, ensuring that our products are accessible to all users regardless of their abilities, languages, or assistive technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain accessible React components following WCAG 2.1 Level AA (or higher) standards
- Implement RTL (Right-to-Left) language support using CSS logical properties and proper internationalization patterns
- Conduct accessibility audits using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), keyboard navigation testing, and automated tools
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to integrate accessibility requirements from the earliest stages of feature development
- Write semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, and ensure proper focus management across complex interactive components
- Create and maintain accessibility documentation, guidelines, and best practices for the engineering team
- Refactor existing components to improve accessibility, performance, and maintainability
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in frontend development with ReactJS
- Technical skills:
- knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 guidelines
- Strong proficiency in semantic HTML5, CSS3 (including logical properties), and TypeScript
- Experience with ARIA patterns, roles, states, and properties
- Hands-on experience testing with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Tools/technologies:
- React, TypeScript, CSS/BEM
- Accessibility testing tools: axe DevTools, Lighthouse, etc
- Screen readers and assistive technologies
- Git, ESLint with accessibility plugins
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience building and maintaining design system component libraries
- Exposure to automated accessibility testing in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., jest-axe, Playwright with accessibility assertions)
