Newcomers, welcome aboard!

Vadym Prygoda – .Net Engineer – TechSafety, Kharkiv

I’m into coding, volleyball and AC/DC. If I didn’t have to earn for a living, I would work with startups. My favourite place on earth is Montenegro. For the next year I have a great plan to visit Canada.

Ellina Frolova –  QA Automation Engineer, Zmags, Kharkiv

I can describe myself as a responsible, caring, and committed person. If I had no need to work to earn money, I would start travelling around the globe to visit every corner. My favourite place in the world is Catalonia, a region in Spain. As for this year, I have an ambition to try paragliding.

Kostiantyn Davydiuk – Java Engineer- ZMags, Remote (Khmelnytskyi)

I’m a cheerful, amiable, and honest person. If I didn’t have to make money, I would probably still do programming or start my own business not related to IT. For me, the best place on earth is where my close people are. This year, I’m hoping to have a chance to go skiing or snowboarding.

Vlad Kovalchuk – QA Engineer – UnitQ, Kharkiv

I can describe myself as even-minded, confident, and smart. If I didn’t need to earn a living, I think I would travel around the world. My favourite place on earth is anywhere with my loving wife. This year, I’m planning to go skiing.

Company Retreat 2020 Vietnam

Trung Thieu shares:

“Normally, we have a company trip together, an Autumn Teambuilding, every year to a distant place (out of Ho Chi Minh city) where we spend 2-3 days together.

This time, due to Covid-19 situation, we wanted to avoid risk (about the pandemic) and cut costs, so we decided to have a short one-day company retreat in a place called BCR (25 km from our company office). 42 team members came along (out of 66), some together with their significant ones (spouses, kids).

The trip began with a gathering at our company office and then a bus ride to the location.

After we arrived at BCR, the whole team had a Breakfast, and everybody joined various activities afterwards. Then, we had a gala lunch where Trung from the BOD team updated everyone on the company status. We had really good food and a lot of drinks. After that, the team spent some time having fun, taking photographs, and playing games. In the afternoon we took off and arrived at the company office by the end of the day. Everyone enjoyed the trip a lot!”

The Deer of St. Nicholas: Holiday During the War

Saint Nicholas is inevitably going on a holiday trip where he’s needed the most. Despite the potential danger, his deer aren’t afraid of the gunfire. They will deliver gifts and holiday spirit to the children in the war zone of Eastern Ukraine (Donetsk and Luhansk regions).

At the moment, there are 14 000 children in the area affected by the conflict. Some of these kids don’t even know life without war. Others have spent over six years of their childhood in fear and danger. Since 2016, the team of Saint Nicholas has been bringing holiday cheer and laughter to these children. Waverley participated in this initiative in 2018. In the past years, we presented a bed (!), a robot for programming, power banks, punching bags, dolls, routers, clothes, sweets, toys, various educational kits, books, and so on.

This year, the Deer of Saint Nicholas are going to help more than 1000 kids in need. And we can help do this.

If you want to help keep up the magic and buy a present for one or more kids, just let us know. The volunteers are about to provide the list of children’s wishes. Alternatively, you can help financially right now and donate any amount. To find out more information, contact Liubov Chorna (our Event Manager) and she will tell you about everything you need to know.

Stay tuned for the list of children’s wishes.

Upcoming Holidays

19 November – International Men’s Day

Did you know?
Today,  many people worldwide celebrate the international Men’s day on November 19. A lot of Ukrainian companies, including Waverley offices, moved the celebration of Men’s Day from the post-soviet tradition of February 23 to the new date – November 19.

International Men’s Day focuses on improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, bringing up responsible males, and highlighting positive male role models. It also looks at addressing issues such as parenting, positive male role models, family values, and healthy life choices for men.

26 November – Thanksgiving Day

The American holiday is particularly rich in legend and symbolism, and the traditional fare of the Thanksgiving meal typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. With respect to vehicular travel, the holiday is often the busiest of the year, as family members gather with one another. This year, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on Thursday, November 26.

Usually, Waverlees meet together at dinner-table to eat festive dishes in a friendly atmosphere. We tell “Thank You” to each other and have a great time together. Sadly, this year we must skip our tradition. But you can say “Thank You” to your colleagues in another way –  via this Form.

All members will receive their gifts following the New Year’s All Hands Meeting.
